Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Union City sponsors a CYO program as one dimension of the total ministry to youth. Athletic programs can help young people toward imperishable crowns as well as perishable ones. A parish CYO program justifies its existence, the sacrifice, and expense it entails only if it makes better Christians of its participants.
As an organization we are committed to teaching young people the fundamentals of track and field, good health, top-notch sportsmanship, teamwork, and individual self-esteem. The experiences these young people gain by participating in our organization will help them succeed in whatever they encounter throughout their lives.
In our CYO program, emphasis rests not on the number of meets won or lost, but on the participants’ attitude in victory or defeat. Learning how to lose is just as important as learning how to win. Learning how to win graciously is more important than winning it self.
Our program is designed to serve the needs of all our youth. It enables the gifted to excel, the less gifted to participate and for all to improve. “Star” athletes and teams do not receive exclusive attention yet,all of our coaches and staff are volunteers with one common goal – to help the youth today become greater athletes and individuals.
